Couple of weeks passed and finally I have a bit of time to write the second part of my StarLink mini test – Starlink Mini the must have kit for roadwarriors. And what should I say, it was a blast but let’s take a closer look at the details and results first before we can come to a final conclusion for whom this kit might be a real must have.

A quick recap of the set-up in use:

As a testing location I used several remote locations on the far most northern island in Germany (Sylt) which had either zero cell network coverage or very low (Edge lvl).

Starlink suggests to wait app. 15min – 1hr for the network to stabilise. Tests show that already after app. 5min you got a stable and pretty fast signal. Because of that it usually took only around 15-20min to reach almost max. speeds. This is perfect in order to quickly set-up a link in no time for a remote audio/video call or crunch up some work projects.

In the gallery below you can find the various speed tests with initially being below 100Mbit/s (upload) before moving up over time.

The Anker power bank served me very well as it is a great compromise of size, weight and price (I grabbed it for around 80EUR and it is frequently on sale at Amazon). With a capacity of 24kmAh it lasted around 5hrs – a bit depending on the usage. Because of its size I could nicely slip it under the Starlink mini dish for sun/temperature protection.

Let’s look at the usage scenarios and why the Starlink Mini roadwarrior kit is a must have. Whilst not a lot of folks will have the desire to work whilst on PTO there is another great usage which is remotely located vacation or weekend homes. With the right fare option you can literally use it while driving (fits nicely on the CyberTruck dash I heard…).

Would be interesting to hear from you where you either already use your Starlink Mini or plan to use it.
